Simulation of the process of human blastocyst implantation. The composite image shows a human blastocyst (~ 280 micrometers in diameter) 5 days post conception rolling along receptive endometrium prior to its attachment. Attachment of the blastocyst to the uterine epithelium is the first step during embryo implantation, followed by stable adhesion and invasion of the uterine wall.
