An increase in capillary sprouting from radial microvessels (red, labeled with HT7, a specific endothelial cell marker) can be seen in the E12 chicken tectum (green, green fluorescent protein). This occurred in response to overexpression of ADAM17, a member of the ADAM (a disintegrin and metalloprotease) family, by means of ex ovo electroporation at E6.
